Horning Forest Products and Services Ltd. is your source for wholesale, eco- friendly, Douglas fir Christmas trees. Grown in a natural environment in Wasa, British Columbia.
At Horning Forest Products and Services Ltd., we believe that growing beautiful Christmas trees shouldn’t come at the expense of the environment. That’s why we’re committed to sustainable, low-impact farming practices.
We never use herbicides or pesticides – choosing instead to manage our farms using natural, responsible methods. Our practices help improve the habitat for wildlife and cattle while helping to reduce wildfire risk.
When you choose our trees, you’re choosing a product that’s grown with integrity — and a deep respect for the land we all share.
Horning Forest Products, boasts 280 hectares of sustainably managed forest for Christmas tree production. We offer Douglas fir Christmas trees ranging from 3 feet to 16 feet, with larger sizes available upon request. We provide three grades of trees:
Light-density trees with a natural, open appearance.
Full-density trees that maintain a natural tree appearance.
Full-density trees that are shaped or lightly sheared, similar to plantation-grown trees.
All trees are graded and color-tagged prior to harvest. The tag color identifies both the tree’s grade and size, and includes a link to our website for details on tree care and our environmental commitment.
Trees are wrapped two per bale, except for single wraps and larger trees, which are wrapped one per bale.
Our trees are available freight on board Wasa, British Columbia, beginning the second week of November each year. We have some shipping capacity within Western Canada and are happy to work with clients to coordinate delivery.
Your Douglas fir Christmas tree should be stored in a cold, shaded location until you’re ready to bring it indoors. Keeping it out of direct sunlight and wind helps retain freshness and moisture before setup.
Before placing your tree in the stand, make a fresh ½-inch cut from the base of the trunk. This reopens the pores and allows the tree to absorb water efficiently, keeping needles soft and vibrant.
Once the tree is indoors, fill the stand with cold, clean water immediately after setting it up. Check the water level daily and never let it run dry — even a few hours without water can cause the base to seal and reduce absorption.
Keep your tree away from direct heat sources such as fireplaces, vents, or space heaters. Excessive heat can cause the tree to dry out faster and shorten its lifespan.
With proper care, your Douglas fir will stay fresh, green, and fragrant for many weeks. A well-hydrated tree is safer, more beautiful, and will bring lasting holiday cheer to your home.
